Monday Linkdump

Some links I shared on twitter in the last week.

Something else:

If you sat through the boring piece of something 2012, cleolinda’s parody recap almost makes it worth the nearly three hours you lost of your life.

The newest episode of Made Of Fail was recorded this weekend and should appear on their community page soon. It’s a great podcast and you should totally subscribe to it in iTunes. P.S. I appear in episode 21.

Introducing: Pomplamoose

You already know I’m a musical nut, and probably guessed that I really like Sound of Music, but this version is completely adorable and I’m kinda in love with it. If that doesn’t take your fancy, check out their version of Single Ladies by Beyonce.

Genius.

Edit: Download their cover versions for free on their myspace page.

As promised – the wedding dance

I’m not the most romantic person. Okay, I’m a fan of the big romantic gesture, I really am. But weddings? I’m a bit meh about the whole thing, and think Las Vegas sounds like the best way of sorting it out. It’s probably because weddings in our culture has become more important than the marriage, and that weirds me out like no tomorrow. To me, weddings come across as stiff, conservative events that I can’t imagine putting myself as the centre piece of, because it just doesn’t correspond with my reality.

And then these guys come along and make it look cool.

Well played, happy couple. Well played.

That’s a good doggy

I’m not a dog person, but I’ve watched this clip about ten times now and it cracks me up every time.

“I need help with my math.”

4 year old kid calls 911 to ask for help with maths.

So funny.

Letters to Santa? Hah!

These days, the kids address their letters to Christopher Walken.

I think this one is my favourite.

Jay Smooth – genious

Watch this, then go to youtube and watch some more of his videos. You can also see them on his blog, Ill Doctrine. Intelligence coupled with good delivery always pushes my good buttons.

Thanks to carlanime on livejournal for linking to one of his other videos, I’m hooked now. I’d probably watch them all, but sleep is is calling.

Prop 8 led to one good thing

But only one.

Between this and Dr. Horrible’s sing-along-blog, I can’t help completely adoring Neil Patrick Harris. Great comedic timing, and what a voice!

The Cute List

I’ve created a mailing list where I send links from my RSS feeds with cute animal pictures and other nice, funny things to cheer you up. If you want to join this list, please go to the Cutelist page

It’s time to make backups

The bubble in social networking has burst, decisively. LiveJournal, the San Francisco-based arm of Sup, a Russian Internet startup, has cut about 20 of 28 employees — and offered them no severance, we’re told.

Two good options for backups:
LJBook
LJArchive

Okay, so it’s a sinking ship we’re now on. LJ with no techies? Will LJ shut down or just slowly stop working? Time will tell, I guess. I’ve had an LJ for 8 years, so I’d have to learn to be online all over again if LJ went away.
