New adventures in cooking!

No, the kitchen isn’t entirely done yet. But that wasn’t going to stop us from making some yummy food this weekend!

For dinner – salmon and couscous baked in parcels

With chopped herbs.

Before wrapping:

All wrapped up!

And ready to eat – yummy!

But to more important business: our first pie, which was a Orange Chocolate Tart. New things to do I’ve never done before part 1: zesting an orange.

Part 2: Making pastry.

Easy does it..

Preparing filling

while the pie bakes blind

Half-way there, pie crust baked, filling added, off to bake the rest.

RESULT!

O NOM NOM NOM

Today, I attempted Quiche Lorraine. I forgot to prick the bottom of the tart, so it cracked a bit. But no worries, it sort of kind of worked out anyway.

For quiche, you cut the bacon in small pieces (I used scissors, much faster), boil it, then fry it with onions.

Move fried stuff into the tart

Pour egg/creme fraiche/cheese mixture over it and it’s ready to go (preparing the filling took an hour).

It was supposed to turn golden. It came out.. a little funny.

It was still delicious though!

Who’s hungry??
